3 Reasons Why You Should Always Carry Dental Supplies In Your First Aid Kit
Posted on 8/9/2021 by Dr. VanBrunt
Preparing for an emergency is possible before a traumatic situation or crisis hits. For example, preparing for a dental emergency is like a medical emergency, but the focus is on dental injuries rather than cuts, bruises, and sprained ankles.
Most people prepare for emergencies by assembling a simple first aid kit. Bandages, gauze, tweezers, scissors, and various ointments and antiseptic creams are present in most first aid kits. However, we feel it is important to include dental supplies in your first aid kit. While dental emergencies do not happen every day, you may be surprised or caught off guard when someone you love needs immediate attention in their mouth. Regardless of the emergency, you will be ready for any crisis if you carry dental supplies in your first aid kit.
Prepare Your First Aid Kit for Peace of Mind
When you are assembling your first aid kit, what should you include so that you can have the right supplies if a dental emergency arises? Include several pairs of sterile gloves. Oral pain relievers help to relieve acute pain from aching teeth as well as other ailments. A cold compress is helpful too. Dental wax is another important item in your emergency kit. It is excellent to use wax as a temporary filling material if you lose a filling or displace a crown. It will stick in the holes of your teeth. Include toothpicks to help fill the temporary holes with dental wax. Lastly, consider floss as well. It is good for tying around a tooth or just holding things together.
